Don’t lie and say you don’t have a celebrity crush. For Jane, Demetri is the end all BE all — and she’ll stop at nothing to have him for herself.
Jane, a stalker, becomes involved with her band-crush Demetri, a budding rock star, for whom she does terrible things to ensure his rise to stardom. While Jane schemes to support the band with bloody and chaotic effect the reality of his situation slowly dawns on Demetri, but is it too late?
Stalker Jane, IMDB
Stalker Jane doesn’t hold back with the ultimate groupie action. Jane (Halo Kitsch) is immediately smitten with Demetri (Niguel Quinn) and goes to extreme lengths to insert herself into his life. There is no slow growth, she’s all in from the beginning. Everything from starting fights to straight-up murder, Jane uses her killer looks and bangin’ breakfast omelets to inch her way into Demetri’s life in an effort to push him to stardom. It’s up to him and his bandmates to rid his life of this psycho woman; she’s done this before… and she’ll do it again.
Now I want to focus on the writing for a little bit here because Stalker Jane has a great story going. They didn’t even try to hide the fact she was a conniving, evil person — Jane played it to her advantage like a snake hiding in the grass. And though it takes others longer to realize just how deep in the weeds they are, we (the audience) are left to see the chaos unfold on screen. Jane is pretty smart actually; she causes commotion that you honestly can’t even argue with because deep down, she’s right. But no one catches on until they’re face-to-face with her pistol.
She isn’t afraid to get a little dirty. Stalker Jane showcases multiple levels of brutality, from run-of-the-mill gun violence to full-on dismemberments and group murder. I loved how the kills had a lighthearted edge to them — almost funny, even. Here Jane is, looking devilishly beautiful, and using a handsaw as blood drips from her black stiletto nails. What’s more is that in between all of these hardcore kills and slammin’ sets, there are moments where Jane is just sitting with her thoughts. These beautiful vignettes are only heightened by the music that fits perfectly in those scenes. Stalker Jane takes the tale of a stalker that no one wants to mess with and somehow makes her likeable and worthy of success. We all know she’s the antagonist, but she’s put in so much work to get where she is. Why shouldn’t she get everything she wants?
Stalker Jane was fabulous. From its rock-n-roll vibes to the bloodied body parts saran wrapped on the shower floor, Jane is probably the most ride-or-die cheerleader out there — just so long as she likes your music. Obsession knows no bounds, and Stalker Jane shows how extreme groupie antics won’t be tolerated. They will, however, be appreciated.
Stalker Jane is streaming now on Cranked Up Films, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Play. Follow the movie on Instagram for more.
