From the minds of the people that brought you The Return of Camazotz comes a remastered anthology of 1950s horror comics: Screams from the Past! A collection of public domain, midcentury horror comics, Screams from the Past takes these stories and transforms them into terrifying tales of the macabre — for a modern audience!
Daniel Grimm (CEO of Grimmcore Studios and curator/editor of Screams from the Past) and Alejandro Samada (artist, art restorer and graphic designer) paired up to showcase stories of murderous robots, mad scientists, vengeful ghosts, eldritch beings, and much more!
- Man with the Broken Neck (Sid Check, 1954) — Fast paced and action-packed. Plotline that mixes the curse of an innocent sentenced to death and his zombie-like rampage to get revenge on those who actually committed the crime.
- Almost Human (Vincent Napoli, 1953) — A brilliant Frankenstein-ian tale that brings the famous story into a murder mystery of the modern era (well, as modern as the mid-20th century is). A grim surprise for the investigating authorities.
- The Murderous Mimics (Paul Cooper, 1952) — If Us, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and The Thing were trapped in an Alaskan cabin over winter. A tale that beckons you to think of the possibilities of such horrors.
- Heartline (Manny Stallman, 1954) — No one can resist trying to bring back their dead significant other. A heartbreak just as unkind and terrible as the experiments of a mad lover.

Screams from the Past is an outstanding testament to the long-lasting power of comics and the mindboggling macabre nature of horror on one’s psyche. This anthology collection is the perfect read for those interested in legendary greats like EC Comics, Marvel and DC, as well as those who love horror history; these original stories were part of an ongoing wave of moral panic during the 50s, subject to book burning and bans in an effort to cleanse the American youth of violent thoughts and criminal activity erroneously attributed to comics like these.
We want to celebrate the tremendous legacy of these original horror creators while also bringing their comics to a new level of quality that we haven’t seen since they were first published back in the fifties. We wanted to bring back these forbidden horror comics that inspired great maestros like Stephen King, John Carpenter, and many more to the public. I’ve spent most of the last year researching hundreds of these comics in the public domain to pick the absolute best, and we’re planning to remaster them and release them through Kickstarter in this new series. We’re very excited to bring these classic comics back!
