book review
REVIEW — Humbug Witch (Lorna Balian, 1965)
And we’re back with the second of three Halloween-themed children’s books from my mom’s past (that she has given to me, and that I share with my own kid). This time it’s Humbug Witch, a book about a little girl that dresses up as a witch and has a lot of fun doing so.
REVIEW — Author Autopsy: a Menu of the Macabre (by Jake Bannerman, 2023)
Whewwwieee! This is a hell of an introduction to the works of author Jake Bannerman! Trigger Warning ahead.
REVIEW — Goosebumps: The Haunted School (R. L. Stine, 1997)
I’m continuing my Goosebumps kick with 1997’s The Haunted School. Bell Valley Middle School has some secrets, and new student Tommy gets right in the middle of this ghostly mystery.
REVIEW — Goosebumps: Stay Out of the Basement (R. L. Stine, 1992)
It’s not the first book in the series, but Stay Out of the Basement is one whose imagery is forever cemented in my head.
REVIEW: Pets for Legion (book)
When local school paraprofessional Sasha James rescues a child from a mysterious assailant, she unknowingly marks herself as the next target. To survive this supernatural foe, she will need to search deeper than the physical, pray for power beyond the natural, and fight like there’s no tomorrow.
