Prepare to laugh your butt off. Part-time realtor, full-time Exorcist Susan Price has decided to finally settle down in a place of her own. We follow her and a documentary crew as she explains her day-to-day activities ridding dwellings of their demons and sending spirits off to the great beyond — all for a steal of a deal. Will Susan find her forever home, or will these house-hunting demons win the bidding war for her life? Epic Pictures’ DREAD Label horror comedy, For Sale By Exorcist, tells that story.
We start off strong with Susan (Emily Classen) recapping the haunted history of a house she’s selling to a couple. Murder, ghostly sightings, the whole gamut of spectral nonsense is shown in snippets as Susan explains her work in home exorcisms in a thick country accent, peppered with sayings like “madder than a wet hen” and “burnt up somethin’ awful.” And just like that, another house is sold! Susan can’t stay in a happy mood though; as she returns to her motel room for the night, she ponders her life’s work and wants to finally find a place to call her own. While documenting her story from psychic childhood to home ownership, beings from the other side are seeking revenge.
If you like house hunting shows or even home tours from your favorite content creators, you’ll find that For Sale By Exorcist is pretty much the horror version of this. With every mahogany staircase and finished basement we see, we get a knife-wielding child or blood leaking from walls. Plus, there’s an added layer of comedy; these situations are ridiculous and entertaining and somehow the perfect fit.
At the same time, For Sale By Exorcist is still very clearly a horror movie. Some of the spectres may seem goofy (like a band of hippie cultists led to the light by an organist playing In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida), but the thought and care in making a mockumentary is evident in every frame and every whisp of ectoplasm. All of the hilarious workup to the main event of the film was paced perfectly. As time goes one, more and more questionable things start to happen: bumps through the walls, breaking glass, a pair of yellow eyes leering from the darkness. It’s only a matter of time before Susan faces some ghosts with a vendetta against her, and that payoff at the end sure is sweet!

For Sale By Exorcist is such a fun watch. It’s honestly like nothing I’ve ever watched before; I’m sure Susan would put it as “a hoot.” While all of the cast played their parts with tenacity, I’d escpcially like to call out Susan and Father Doyle (John Dimes) for taking it over the edge. Simple effects throughout the movie don’t feel cheap and add just the right amount of spook. The writing is great and the story keeps you engaged the whole time. It’s a unique film that makes a normal mockumentary feel like reading a boring user manual; it’s more than your standard “film everything!” plot and some jumpscares — it’s character development in a haunted house! I would expect nothing less from the filmmakers, whose other works include The Blair Witch Project, Amanda the Adventurer, The Hard Times, and WNUF Halloween Special.
For Sale By Exorcist had me cackling in my seat, in awe of the shenanigans and spectral sightings going down on screen. While I wouldn’t put this on “scary” side of horror, it is definitely a lighthearted movie about the scares. There’s always a quick-witted quip or shadow in the background, something to hold your attention ’til the cows come home. Like the homes Susan sells, there’s a market for this kind of movie — so get it while the deal is hot!
For Sale By Exorcist is available to rent or purchase on VOD starting tomorrow, 11 March 2025. For more movies by Epic Pictures, visit their website.
