Wow. Is it the end of 2024 already? How time flies… Let’s look back at the horrors of this year.
Movies
We truly had some terrifying films this year, namely Longlegs, Terrifier 3, and Nosferatu. I was lucky enough to see all three in theaters and I had an absolute blast. While they may not have scratched every single itch I had (there were definitely things I would have preferred seeing in Longlegs and Terrifier 3), it was still great to see some truly scary films coming out. Everything from their trailers and marketing to the films themselves and even their merch was on point. And shoutout to other greats like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Immaculate and The First Omen, and Late Night with the Devil.

Haunts
Unfortunately another year has passed where I couldn’t attend any haunts. I did, however, get to attend Midsummer Scream for the first time and walk through some mini haunts there. Take a look at my mini vlog to see.
In Haunt news though, we got some great updates on two Universal properties. Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas, a year-round haunt, had its “first look” in October, giving sneak peaks to every scare we could dream of. Universal’s Epic Universe in Orlando, featuring a section of the park based around their famous Monsters, announced its opening date in May 2025. I have no idea if I’ll be able to attend the opening, but you know as soon as I can get my hands on some tickets, you’ll know!
Games
For years now I’ve been planning and scheming on how to incorporate gaming into Let’s Talk Terror. So while I haven’t done anything thus far, I have been silently working in the background, testing out some games, planning some playthroughs, etc. Stay tuned for 2025.
Books
I love reading and never pass up the chance to read something scary. Throughout 2024, I have been getting back into Goosebumps books. I have also been part of some crowdfunding campaigns for different comic books! The Return of Camazotz, Martian Sun Magazine, A Haunting on Mars, and Screams from the Past have all graced my eyeballs to much delight. If you have the chance to read any of them, I highly suggest it!

Let’s Talk terror
And finally, some LTT updates! This was truly a year that I did a lot of work, and I am very proud of myself. I set off with a goal of not only increasing my post rate (both here on the site and on social media), but also more videos! I had so many opportunities to travel and interview people in the film industry for my Let’s Talk Terror (with friends!) series. Go check those out on YouTube.
I also delved more into crowdfunding. The Horror community is amazing and probably the most loving community out there. It is a wonderful place to get your start in the business and find new media. This year, I contributed to a few different crowdfunding campaigns — some of which have earned me Producer status! What will I do with that title? I don’t know yet, but I am excited for what could come out of it in the future. If you’re ever in a place to contribute, I definitely would take that opportunity; every dollar counts and you’re helping to prop up our community and keep the art going.
With all that said, 2024 was certainly a year for horror. Lots of cool stuff that came out. Lots of things we’d rather forget (looking at you, horror-fied Disney properties!). Lots to look forward to in 2025.
What was your favorite part of the 2024 horror-verse? Let us know in the comments!
Thank you for reviewing The Return of Camazotz and for having me on as a guest. Your support has meant a lot to us this year! Hope you have an amazing New Year Day and hope 2025 brings you even more success and of course more horror!
Same to you! I was serious when I said I want to see more Camazotz, lol. I’m slowly becoming a collector thanks to your work. Happy New Year, and I’m sure we’ll collab again soon 🙂
